Hearing Aid Trials
Try hearing aids before committing. One of the biggest concerns when choosing hearing aids is whether they will be a good fit. That’s why Bloor offers hearing aid trials, allowing patients to test different devices. This trial period helps users experience the benefits of various models in real-world settings, ensuring they select the best option with confidence. Patients can compare sound quality, comfort, and functionality with professional guidance to make an informed decision.
Flexible Payment Plans
Affordability should never be a barrier to better hearing, and Bloor recognizes this by providing flexible payment plans. Our financing options make high-quality hearing aids accessible to a wider range of patients, regardless of budget. Whether you need a basic model or a premium device with advanced features, our payment solutions help patients invest in their long-term hearing health.

Hearing Aid Services
Bloor Hearing Clinic, an independent hearing aid centre in Toronto, offers comprehensive services for hearing aid users. From selection to ongoing support, we ensure optimal hearing solutions tailored to patient needs.
Hearing Aid Selection
Our audiologists assess hearing loss severity, lifestyle, and personal preferences to recommend suitable hearing aids. Factors like Bluetooth compatibility, dexterity, and budget are considered to ensure ease of use and affordability. This personalized approach helps patients choose devices that enhance their hearing while fitting seamlessly into their daily lives.
Hearing Aid Programming
Once selected, hearing aids undergo precise programming to match the patient’s unique hearing profile. Audiologists fine-tune amplification to specific frequencies for a natural listening experience. Adjustments are made based on patient feedback, optimizing performance across various environments.
Hearing Aid Verification
Bloor Hearing Clinic uses real ear measurement, the gold standard for hearing aid verification. A small microphone in the ear canal measures sound delivery, ensuring the device provides accurate amplification. This process improves speech clarity and enhances the overall hearing experience.
Hearing Aid Use Education
Patients receive hands-on training on using and maintaining their hearing aids. This includes proper insertion, cleaning techniques, battery management, and troubleshooting tips. Comprehensive education empowers users to maximize device longevity and maintain peak performance.
Hearing Aid Follow-Ups
Regular follow-ups ensure continued success with hearing aids. We assess patient progress, make necessary adjustments, and address concerns. This ongoing support allows for fine-tuning as hearing needs evolve, improving long-term satisfaction.
Hearing Aid Demonstrations
For those unsure about committing, hearing aid demonstrations offer a hands-on experience with different models. Patients can test various options before purchasing so they choose the right device for their hearing loss, lifestyle, and comfort.
Hearing Aid Repair
We provide hearing aid repair services to address issues such as sound distortion, connectivity problems, or physical damage. Minor repairs are done in-clinic, while extensive damage may require sending the device to the manufacturer. Regular maintenance and timely repairs help extend the lifespan of hearing aids for consistent performance and clear sound quality.
Hearing Aids Cost and Warranty
Depending on the model, hearing aids cost between $2,800 and $5,500 per pair after government funding. Each purchase includes a three-year manufacturer’s warranty, two years of loss and damage protection, and lifetime in-clinic services, ensuring long-term hearing care.
Bone-anchored hearing aids (BAHA) provide a surgical alternative for patients with conductive hearing loss, mixed hearing loss, or single-sided deafness. These devices bypass the middle ear, transmitting sound vibrations through the skull to the inner ear, usually ranging between $4,500 to $8,000.
Hearing Aid Types
Hearing aids come in two main different styles to suit various hearing needs and preferences. Both types cater to different levels of hearing loss:
Behind-the-Ear Hearing Aids
Behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aids rest behind the ear, amplifying mild to severe hearing loss. They are durable, easy to adjust, and suitable for most users.
In-the-Ear Hearing Aids
In-the-ear (ITE) hearing aids are custom-molded to fit inside the ear, providing a more discreet option. These devices deliver natural sound quality and are easier to handle, making them ideal for those who prefer a compact design.
Hearing Loss Causes & Treatment
Hearing loss affects millions of Canadians, with around 35% of adults experiencing some degree of hearing impairment. Below are the major hearing loss causes and their treatment.
Earwax Buildup
A common yet easily treatable cause, earwax buildup blocks sound from reaching the inner ear, leading to temporary hearing loss. Symptoms include muffled hearing and a sensation of fullness in the ear. Professional earwax removal at a hearing aid center can restore hearing clarity.
Infections
Ear infections, especially in the middle ear, can cause inflammation and fluid buildup. If untreated, severe infections may result in permanent damage. Antibiotics or ear drops typically help, but chronic cases may require medical intervention.
Diseases
Conditions like Ménière’s disease, acoustic neuromas (tumors), and autoimmune disorders can impact hearing. Symptoms vary, from fluctuating hearing loss to tinnitus and balance issues. Treatment depends on the condition and may involve medication, therapy, or surgical options.
Ototoxic Medications
Certain drugs, such as chemotherapy agents, antibiotics, and high-dose aspirin, are ototoxic, meaning they can damage the inner ear. Hearing loss from these medications can be temporary or permanent. Consulting a healthcare provider about alternatives or dosage adjustments may help.
Trauma
Head injuries, ruptured eardrums, or exposure to loud noise can permanently harm hearing structures. Treatments range from rest and medication to surgical repair, depending on the severity. Protective measures, like using earplugs in noisy environments, can prevent future damage.
Age-Related Hearing Loss
Presbycusis, or age-related hearing loss, is a gradual decline in hearing due to inner ear changes over time. While irreversible, hearing aids and assistive devices can significantly improve speech clarity and communication.
Hearing Aid Price
Hearing aids cost $2,800–$5,500 per pair after ADP funding, including a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty, 2-year loss coverage, and lifetime in-clinic services.

Although some audiologists completed a clinical doctoral degree, audiologist are not medical doctors. Audiologists have a master’s and/or doctoral degree and are regulated health professionals governed by the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario.
Audiologist’s scope of practice includes diagnosing and treating of hearing loss for adults and pediatric patients, recommend and program hearing aids, cerumen management (ear wax removal), and diagnosing and treatment of vestibular balance issues. They work in various settings such as hospital, private practices, or University research programs.
OHIP does not fully cover hearing aids, but programs like the Assistive Devices Program (ADP) offer partial coverage for eligible individuals.
If you struggle to hear in conversations, frequently ask others to repeat themselves, or experience background noise difficulties, a hearing aid may help. A hearing test can confirm whether you need it.
Hearing aids use advanced digital technology to enhance speech clarity, reduce background noise, and integrate with smartphones and assistive devices.
Hearing loss affects more than just volume; it impacts speech understanding and cognitive function. Even mild untreated hearing loss can increase the risk of cognitive decline.
